Armistace Day

An armistice signed by the Allies and Germany at 11 am on 11th November, 1918 ended the First World War. Armistice Day on 11th November commemorates the end of the war and the Two Minute Silence at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month provides an opportunity to stop and remember the millions killed during the conflict.

Nowadays, the Two Minute Silence is observed on Remembrance Sunday, when services are held annually throughout the United Kingdom. Remembrance Sunday is the second Sunday in November and is a day of remembrance for all those killed in war. A revival campaign during the 1990s reintroduced the observance of the Two Minute Silence on November 11th.
