The Albert Memorial, London

The Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens commemorates the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband, who died of typhoid fever at the age of 42. The memorial, designed by George Gilbert Scott and unveiled in 1872, is one of London’s most ornate monuments. Built in high Victorian gothic style, it was influenced by the 13th Century Eleanor Crosses.

Officially titled the Prince Consort National Memorial, the structure celebrates Prince Albert’s passions and interests, and Victorian achievement.
